About CellSonic™

In 1987 we were involved in the FDA trials of electrodes for the Dornier HM3 lithotripter in St Thomas’ Hospital in London. This was the first lithotripter in Britain and at that time the only known application for the first ever use of non-invasive surgery was to break up and pass out a kidney stone. Since then the shockwaves generated by lithotripters have become one of the most exciting developments in medicine with applications ranging from healing wounds to repairing bones and tendons.

It was clear that shockwaves had to be cheaper to be beneficial so after a global search CellSonic was formed and appointed Apex Meditech in India to design and make a focussed hand-held lithotripter using British components. Over the course of time working with Apex it was agreed that the range of machines already developed by Apex for the Indian market would be available exclusively worldwide through CellSonic. Thus a union was formed with Apex being the manufacturing side and CellSonic the sales side and in India and Sri Lanka all sales go through Apex Meditech. CellSonic was registered in the UAE, a short flight from the factory.
